Adrian Theuma, B.Com (Economics & Management), is an intern with the National Statistics Office.

How are you finding your internship?

The internship is going great. I am meeting other economists and lecturers who used to teach me at the University. It feels great to finally practise and apply what I learned at university during my current internship.

What do you most enjoy about the internship?

I love working within a team and being treated as a normal employee.

It gives me satisfaction to know that my work is making a difference at the NSO, even though I am still an intern.

I have a specific job description and knowing that I am the only person working on this project makes me feel important. Working with the NSO is giving me the opportunity to see exactly how things are carried out at the workplace. I am working hard to give my best and meet deadlines.

How will your internship help you in your future studies/career?

My internship has already starting helping me a lot. I never thought I could get an internship as a statistician and hopefully this experience will offer me added value for my future career.

What advice would you give other students thinking of applying for an internship with Castille?

Although working while studying can be very intensive, it is worthwhile. Students will definitely benefit from the extra time spent at the place of work.

Always give your utmost during the internship because this might lead to full-time employment after graduation. It’s a great opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in class and it will definitely give you an advantage for future employment.
