The Association of Lions Clubs Walled Cities international convention will be held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana, on Saturday.

The conference aims to bring together clubs from walled cities around the world to raise awareness about common heritage and share experiences.

This convention should appeal to architects and other professionals interested in the maintenance, restructuring and restoration of city walls and ancient buildings.

The first International Con-gress of Lions from Walled Cities was held in June 2004 in Lucca.

The conference will open at 8.30 a.m. and opening speeches will begin at 9.30 a.m.

Guest speaker Stephen Spiteri, an expert on the topic of walls and fortifications, will deliver a speech. This will be followed by representatives of various clubs from the International Association of Lions Clubs Walled Cities.

The conference will end with a buffet lunch and committee members will discuss the outcome of the convention.

A gala dinner will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta in honour of the visiting delegates.
