A pre-professional, two-week ballet intensive course for students aged 10+ is being held as from today in San Ġwann.
The classes will incorporate classical ballet technique, solo variations and performance skills, contemporary dance, body conditioning/ stretching, pointe work and tutorials.
This annual event, organised by Ballet Intensive International, sees international guest teachers which this year include a soloist from The Royal Swedish Ballet, Luiza Lopes, and artist Maria Andres Betoret from Stuttgart Ballet.
The programme also offers one awarded international vocational scholarship, one awarded Ballet Intensive International scholarship and one performance opportunity.
Ballet Intensive International was founded in 2014 and strives to connect young aspiring dancers to today’s leading professionals within the industry. Intensives are specifically designed to give young dancers the opportunity to receive bespoke classical coaching from professional dancers who dance with the world’s leading ballet companies.
Previous guest teachers have included Laurretta Summerscales, principal at English National Ballet; Tierney Heap, first soloist at the Royal Ballet; Sasha Mukhamedov, principal at Dutch National Ballet; Mari Kawanishi, artist at Staatsballett Berlin; Yasmine Naghdi, first soloist at the Royal Ballet and Ruth Brill, first artist at Birmingham Royal Ballet.
