At the beginning of the 1950s, the government of the time requisitioned two of my properties on possession and use; they were situated in Gavino Gulia Square, Cospicua.
Early this month, the present government informed me that it was going to enter into a contract with me to pay me for the transfer of the property. However, the sum I am going to be paid is paltry and it is insufficient even to buy a one-car garage anywhere today.
One of the properties could garage at least five cars comfortably; the other one was a house-cum-shop – the vestibule served as a shop and the tenants lived in the rest of the house. This ‘compensation’ is nothing but daylight robbery.
