Roma midfielder Erik Lamela will be sidelined for three weeks after injuring an ankle ligament against Torino on Monday night.

The 20-year-old Argentine suffered a blow to his right ankle in the second half of a 2-0 Serie A victory over the Granata, with tests yesterday confirming ligament damage.

A Roma statement said: “Erik Lamela has today undergone medical examinations which have revealed a ligament injury to his right ankle. The prognosis is three weeks (of recovery).”

Lamela has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Giallorossi this season, including seven goals in the six matches preceding Monday’s game, but the young playmaker will now miss games against Pescara, Siena and Fiorentina.
