On my return Air Malta flight from Berlin on January 1 at 1 p.m. I was surprised or, better, humoured to be offered half a sandwich and a tiny mince pie for my inflight lunch.

I wasn’t expecting a turkey but having just paid nearly €350 for my Berlin flights I did expect a whole sandwich, at least!

Air Malta CEO Peter Davies told The Sunday Times (January 1), a copy of which, incidentally, I was reading on board the plane: “As long as they’re happy someone at the top can create discipline, I don’t think they care what money I get.” Well, unlike Mr Davies, I do care and I am not happy with such ridiculous discipline.
