Inflation nudged up to 0.9 per cent in July but remained well below the EU average of 1.7 per cent, according to recent figures.

Malta registered the 10th lowest inflation rate from the 28 member states with Estonia hitting the top rung at 3.9 per cent.

The figures released by Eurostat, the EU statistics agency, showed that the July inflation rate in Malta reversed a three-month drop. In April inflation stood at 0.9 per cent, dropping to 0.8 in May and 0.6 in June.

The lowest annual rates were in Greece and the highest in Estonia (3.9 per cent).
