The annual rate of inflation in December stood at 1.04 per cent, a drop of 2.79 per cent on 2012, according to the National Statistics Office.

The largest impact on inflation was recorded in food (0.56 percentage points), beverages and tobacco (0.39 percentage points) and recreation and culture (0.21 percentage points).

This was due to price increases in vegetable items, cigarettes and audiovisual equipment.

There were also a big impact from transport and communication (0.42 points).
