I was amazed to read Mark Mifsud Bonnici’s letter (October 22) that targeted Louise Manduca Morley and her personal love of cats in his attempt to detract from the main point in her letter (October 18), in which she pleaded for the freedom of birds to fly in our skies and protested about their deliberate killing by hunters.

To compare human beings to cats suggests that humans are devoid of conscious decisions relating to respecting our environment and protecting endangered species.

I seriously challenge Mr Mifsud Bonnici’s sweeping statement that most of the birds hunted are consumed as delicacies by hunters. I have personally witnessed birds shot over the sea for the sake of a cheap thrill.

This indiscriminate shooting must stop.
