Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile hopes to stay at Sevilla for “a few years” despite only joining the Europa League winners on a season-long loan.

Immobile moved to Dortmund for almost 20 million euros a year ago after scoring 22 league goals for Torino during the 2013-14 season.

But the 25-year-old Italy international failed to establish himself in Dortmund’s first team last season, scoring just three goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances, and has now been handed the opportunity to resurrect his career in Spain.

Although his move to Sevilla is temporary, Immobile hopes to impress enough to extend his stay at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium beyond next season.

“I am very happy because Sevilla is an important team,” he told his new club’s official website.

“First I talked with (director of football) Monchi, who told me this is like a family, and for me it is very important this year to become part of this family after a negative year.

“Thanks to the president and Monchi who helped me come here,” he added. “I’d like to be a few years at Sevilla, I hope to find a family in this team.”

Immobile has been drafted into Unai Emery’s squad following the departure of prolific forward Carlos Bacca, who joined Milan earlier this month.
