Forty-six immigrants who are claiming to be from Somalia landed at Għar Lapsi last night.

The 35 men and 11 women, two of them pregnant, were taken to a detention centre.

The immigrants were escorted to Malta by the Armed Forces after they were spotted in the area of Filfla.

They were met by AFM and police officers upon landing.

Last Sunday, 90 immigrants claiming to be from Somalia sailed into one of Malta’s most beautiful sandy beaches, watched by about 100 people who were attending a full moon gathering.

A week earlier, another 50 immigrants landed at Manikata and in Gozo near Qbajjar, as the sea gets calmer and reduces the hazards of a Mediterranean crossing.
