A large structure illegally built on the scenic cliff edge in L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa was demolished this week by enforcement officers.

The illegal structure, consisting of two rooms, was built on government-owned land in a scheduled area and was pulled down by the planning authority with the assistance of the Special Assignment Group.

The enforcement officers were stopped from demolishing another illegal structure just a few metres away after they were presented with a provisional injunction by the developer’s lawyer.

Earlier this year, enforcement officers carried out other direct action operations in L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa, including the confiscation of a 20-tonne bulldozer used by a contractor to dump large amounts of construction material illegally.
