Lately we read the good news that we Maltese were reading more.
Then, I often ask myself, why do I find myself in a waiting room for some reason or other and very rarely do I see some reading material in one’s hands?
A few days ago, my wife and I waited for an hour in one of Mater Dei Hospital’s waiting rooms. We were a small crowd of about 20.
No single book was in sight while I was contemplating The Story of a Soul – the autobiography of St Therese of Lisieux. I think it would be a good idea that whoever is responsible would encourage people to make much better use of this “idle” time.
