Andrea Iannone claimed Ducati’s first MotoGP win in six years as he took the flag in the Austrian Grand Prix, yesterday.

Ducati last tasted victory via Casey Stoner in 2010 but romped to a one-two finish as Iannone led Andrea Dovizioso over the line at the Red Bull Ring.

The pair held off reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo, who edged Movistar Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi to round out the podium.

Iannone held pole position but was run hard by Dovizioso, who took the lead after the former changed to medium rear tyres but could not find a final burst of speed.

Overall leader Marc Marquez finished in fifth place, having dislocated his shoulder when crashing in FP3, meaning only Lorenzo made any real gains on his comfortable lead in the championship table.

Standings
Marquez 181; Lorenzo 138; Rossi 124; Pedrosa 105; Vinales 93; Iannone 88.
