More than 1,000 people applied to attend free IT courses being organised to address the digital divide, Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness Edward Zammit Lewis said.

He encouraged people to take advantage of the training, especially those over 45.

Dr Zammit Lewis spoke during the opening of a new ICT centre at the Mosta local council where 160 applied to join the courses.

Opposition spokesman David Agius, who was also at the event, said the Government had the Opposition’s support on projects that linked the digital economy and local councils.
