A Swedish man has been given a suspended sentence for assaulting and insulting three police officers, calling them “every single name imaginable”.

The accused, a fork lift driver, admitted to the charges, saying: “I’ve been stupid, I know that”.

He threatened to kill them

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona heard that Lindgren Manu Juha-Pekka, 42, was arrested at the airport yesterday after he attempted to board a flight in a drunken state. Prosecuting officer Silvio Magro told the court how, instead of calming down, the accused turned to him and police sergeants Noel Said and Dunstan Sammut, threatening to kill them and calling them names.

The court fined him €5,000 fine and gave him a two-year sentence suspended for four years.
