As part of an EU-wide survey on corruption, 83 per cent of Maltese respondents are reported (The Sunday Times of Malta, December 10) to consider corruption as unacceptable.

This high percentage on claimed high moral ground does not tally with the last general election result. For a substantial majority of the electorate the Opposition’s promise of good governance was of no consequence, and I have a feeling that I am surrounded by a load of compatriot hypocrites.
