The hunters are angry that so much was spent on the spring hunting referendum(the Times of Malta, July 24).
No referendum would have been necessary if they had obeyed EU law in the first place and, along with the Nationalist and Labour governments, not used our taxes to determinedly pursue year after year a derogation to retain spring hunting and trapping.
So perhaps the ‘angry ones’ would extend their publicspiritedness to tell us how much that little lot has, is, and is going to cost us all.
Bearing in mind of course that once an issue goes ‘international’ as opposed to local, the costs escalate dramatically, especially as the issue is not shared with an already ongoing event.
I am prepared to contribute both personally and financially to the next referendum. I will work as hard as I did for the last one because I know the cause is right.
