As an Englishman staying in Malta I have been astonished at the quantity and wide distribution of used and discarded shotgun cartridges. Almost no extended space seems without them and in some places, like Bajda ridge, they are present in enormous numbers.

I think these are unsightly, mildly contaminated and ruin the pristine cleanliness of the Maltese landscape, whose delight Maltese citizens correctly are so keen to preserve.

I believe the total removal of every last one would make an inspiring change in favour of the appreciation of the islands’ real beauty. Perhaps ecologically orientated schoolchildren and adults could be encouraged to collect them.

Also, needless to say, can’t hunters pick their rubbish up between their shooting bouts?
