Brian Simmons (March 27) seems to have a gigantic task condemning the shooting of birds.
Considering that in the span of a few weeks he has written two letters to the press in Malta, judging from his eagerness to reply he might consider informing us of the other countries that have to suffer his nonsense.
If he is perturbed by what he terms as a personal attack by me and considers my arguments to be discourteous and shameful, can he explain how, living in Kent, he can attest to the killing of birds in Malta as being “so noticeable”?
I have shot in his country several times over the years and whether he likes it or not I have no hesitation in stating that the shooting of birds in Malta pales into insignificance when compared to the 22 million shot in the UK each year.
Can he inform us of what he has done to address the issue in his own country?
While taking umbrage at my comments, he has no qualms in playing high and mighty, while judging others in the process.
