On September 23, Hunters’ Federation president Joe Perici Calascione stated: “The Labour Party has promised hunters it will amend legislation regulating the spring and autumn hunting seasons as well as the number of birds which can be shot”.

Not to be outdone, two days later the PN Government announced “a special autumn live-capturing licence to registered trappers”. Trapping of 5,000 song thrush will be allowed between October 20 and December 31, and 1,150 Golden Plover between October 20 and January 10.
