A second hunter is expected to be charged in connection with stalking protected birds near Salini, the police said yesterday.

A 49-year-old man from Naxxar had been arrested on Tuesday morning after volunteers of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter alerted the police about alleged illegal hunting between Salini and Magħtab.

Though CABS said members had spotted two hunters, one carrying a shotgun and the other illegal bird callers, a police statement on Tuesday made no mention of the second man.

However, the police yesterday told Times of Malta they expected to issue charges against the hunter allegedly found in possession of bird callers.
