Between March 2013 and March 2014 the government spent a total of €675,000 on enforcing hunting regulations, Environment Minister Leo Brincat told Opposition MP Charlò Bonnici in reply to a parliamentary question.

The cost covered salaries of officers of the Wild Bird Regulations Unit related to enforcement, as well as salaries and fuel expenses for the army and the police.

Mr Brincat remarked that enforcement must be done all year round for Malta to honour its obligations.
