The young Hungarian woman missing since last Sunday has been found in Buġibba, police said yesterday.

Police had appealed for help in finding Agnes Revesz, 18, who was reported missing by relatives on Monday after last being seen walking towards the beach in front of Hotel San Antonio, Qawra.

No details were released about how she was found. Ms Revesz has lived with her uncle and aunt in St Paul’s Bay since March.

Her uncle told The Sunday Times yesterday that police had found Ms Revesz and told her relatives she was safe and well.

However, their niece has not returned home and she is staying with a man they have not met.

“We haven’t seen her, but we’re pleased she is safe and thankful to the police,” he said.

Hungarian media reported Ms Revesz’s mother arrived in Malta on Friday to help with the search.

It also reported Ms Revesz had contacted her mother via Facebook after she was reported missing, asking to be left alone. Her mother believed someone else sent the message and her daughter may have been kidnapped.

On a Facebook account allegedly belonging to Ms Revesz, she was listed as being in a relationship with a Hungarian man yesterday morning, but this was removed yesterday afternoon.

Photos of her shopping with a man in Sliema were posted on July 17. In her last post, she suggested visiting Fuego bar with a friend on July 21.

Her disappearance sparked national alarm, coming less than a week after 17-year-old Russian Polina Rahman was also reported missing in Paceville.

Ms Rahman, who was attending a two-week English language course, was found dead in Villa Rosa valley, bordering Pembroke, last Tuesday.

Police have not confirmed if the death involved foul play. A magisterial inquiry is underway.

The Sunday Times spoke to students who attended Ms Rahman’s school last week and many were afraid about walking alone at night, fearing a killer may be on the loose.
