The opening ceremony of the 24th edition of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, CHOGM, being held in Malta next week, will include 360 performers.

These consist children, singers, musicians, dancers, acrobats and two aerialists from the UK.

The theme chosen for the ceremony ties with the overall theme of the CHOGM – Adding Global Value. An original score was composed for the show by Ivan Grech, Karl Fiorini and Mario Sammut.

Musicians performing at the ceremony will include members of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and an original piece will be performed by guitarist Simon Schembri, to accompany a performance by national dance company ŻfinMalta.

The opening ceremony will also include a performance by Joseph Calleja, accompanied by Alison Ellul Children’s choir as well as performance by Nico Darmanin.

Extra performances will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on November 27 at 3pm and November 28 at 11am, 2pm and 5pm. Tickets will cost €15 and may be booked on www.mcc.com.mt.

All proceeds from the ticket sales shall go towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
