Art appreciation need not be an adult pursuit and children should be encouraged to express themselves in writing just as soon as they can squiggle a few words.

Start them young on both and you increase the chances of producing an art connoisseur – or even an artist – as well as a skilled writer by the time the child is in primary school.

The same principle holds true for cooking: and it’s not just a good cook you may be on the way to producing but a boy or girl who opts for healthy fare.

These stories and more in Child magazine, out free tomorrow with Times of Malta – essential reading for the dedicated parent.
