Once again, James A. Tyrell has come out with another complaint against the present Administration, this time about the “massacre” of ficus trees planted in Independence Square, Victoria.
I don’t think that Mr Tyrell is an agronomist. To keep trees healthy, one must shave off branches, in a professional manner, which may cause the trees to look initially “miserable”.
Some weeks ago, trees on the Sliema seafront were shorn “to an inch of their lives”. Now, however, new fresh green shoots have already appeared.
I can’t help but admire these trees, which have now grown strong and beautiful in spite of the constant northwesterly and northeasterly gales.
