I had high hopes that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat would bring fresh air to politics in Malta after all those years under the Nationalists.

But he has certainly made a hash of things by calling turncoat Cyrus Engerer “our soldier of steel”. It is an insult to those Labour MEP candidates who are honest citizens without a blemish on their conduct.

A turncoat, with (now) a criminal record, is a ‘soldier of putty’ since he is now one convicted of pornography.

I know I have said I would not take up issue with Eddie Privitera again but cannot help wondering – as without doubt he himself being a soldier of steel – what he thinks of Engerer being welcomed as such.
