Young Stars took the lead early on in this lively Challenge Cup Group A qualifier when Mark Camilleri scored as a result of a penalty corner action.

Ryan Dalli soon equalised though, when he picked up a deflection inside the D and pushed home. Four minutes later, Jonathan Borg shot the Hotsticks into a 2-1 lead from a penalty corner action.

Shawn Grima then converted a penalty stroke as the Hotsticks went in for the break enjoying a two-goal lead.

Young Stars missed a couple of opportunities to get back into the game after the restart but Hotsticks held the upperhand and struck for a fourth time when Alessandro Amore slotted home  from the centre of the D.

Andrew Camilleri hit the ball well over the Hotsticks goal from a good position and at the other end Martijn Bal netted on 62 minutes to make it 5-1.

Young Stars reduced the arrears through Elton Cutajar but two minutes from time Borg notched his second, sealing a merited victory his team.

Qormi dominated this Group B tie from start to finish, easily overcoming a depleted  White Hart side as the scoreline clearly indicates.

They went ahead early on through Juan Sarcia and Ayrton Falzon grabbed Qormi’s second on 12 minutes when he scored from an acute angle.

After White Hart’s David Agius cleared a goal-bound effort off the line, the score became 3-0 when Keith Bajada lashed onto to a clearance and slotted home.

White Hart goalkeeper Ramon Chircop denied Qormi going further ahead with a couple of fine saves before half-time.

Qormi seemed content to control the match by retaining possession after the break. On 51 minutes, they were awarded a penalty stroke and Chircop, again, stopped Sarcia’s effort.

Sarcia was not to be denied however and he scored twice in quick succession to send his team 5-0 up.

John Williams netted Qormi’s sixth and Zachary de Giovanni rounded up the score to 7-0 on the stroke of time.
