Gżira United 1
Pieta Hotspurs 4

Pieta secured their second win of the season, scoring 10 goals in the process after this win over Gżira

complemented the 6-1 thrashing of Dingli in the previous match.

In Raphael Kooh Sohna the Hotspurs seem to have made the buy of the season but it’s all gloom for Gżira who are finding the going tough after winning promotion last season.

Pieta were surely the most aggressive side and their pace was daunting, especially in the first half when Kooh Sohna had the ball.

It took the Cameroonian just 12 minutes to open the score when he picked up a pass from Cleaven Frendo before beating goalkeeper Simon Agius after a darting run inside the box.

Edmond Lufi’s side were too superior and it was no surprise that they scored a second on 28 minutes, again thanks to Kooh Sohna who controlled the ball with elegance before hitting low past the keeper.

Pieta had other chances to add to the score but the Maroons fashioned a good chance to halve the deficit before half-time only for Alfred Effiong to hit the ball one touch too many and the goalkeeper avoided danger.

On resumption, Gżira looked better and pulled one back on 53 minutes when Pieta failed to clear and Simon Shead tapped the ball over the line.

Shead was denied by Montfort off a firm grounder from the veteran striker but when Gżira looked like they might get an equaliser, Pieta finished them off with a superb Quilin Refalo goal from an angle.

Gżira were stunned and Jurgen Pisani could have easily made it 4-1 but blasted wide from underneath the bar following a good run and cross by Refalo.

In stoppage time, Kooh Sohna received a perfect pass from substitute Kyle Cesare and drove the ball home to complete a fine evening for him and his team.
