The Pietà Hotspurs team scored 15 goals and conceded only one on their way to winning the U-14 international Christmas tournament, the sixth in the series, played at the Luxol Stadium last month.

Besides the Hotspurs and host team Luxol, the other sides in the competition were Ħamrun Spartans, Mellieħa, Melita, Hibernians and Sicily’s La Mezia and Santa Sofia, from Italy.

In Group A, Luxol topped the standings ahead of Santa Sofia and both teams qualified for the semi-finals along with Group B winners Pietà and runners-up La Mezia.

Luxol drew their tie with La Mezia but the latter advanced to the title match after winning a penalty shoot-out.

Pietà joined them in the final after beating Santa Sofia 2-0, the goals coming from Jake Bone and Liam Scicluna.

The young Hotspurs produced their best play in the decisive match as they beat La Mezia 3-0.

Bone was again protagonist for his team with a double, the other Pietà goal coming from Emerson Camilleri.
