Nineteen front-office personnel from 15 different hotel establishments have visited Besançon in France for a two-week intercultural training programme.

One group of participants travelled to Besançon in December while another went last month.

The initiative was promoted by the Malta Tourism Authority to improve participants’ knowledge of French. The hotel staff took part in an intensive language training programme tailor-made for personnel who need to deal with French-speaking guests.

Apart from mingling with other hotel workers the Maltese participants had time to visit La Citadelle of Besancon, salt-works at Salins, wine tasting at Arbois and a cheese factory at Cléron.
