The Malta Hospice Movement is to be awarded the European Parliament’s Citizen’s Prize for 2014 for its extensive work in caring for hundreds of patients and families over the years.

The NGO has been jointly nominated for this year’s prize by all Maltese MEPs.

This year, Hospice Malta is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Since 1989, the organisation has helped more than 7,500 patients and their families through their difficult experiences.

An award ceremony will be held in Malta on February 6.

European laureates will then be selected by a Chancellery set up by the European Parliament, presided over by the President.

The laureates will be announced in a ceremony in Brussels on February 25.
