A photo printed on June 4 shows works for a permanent horse shelter in Marsamxett Road, Valletta. No information was given as to how many horses this miniature shelter will accommodate. More importantly, when will the other horse shelters with water availability be put in place? What are the authorities waiting for?

There are over 65 horses working on the roads licensed with Transport Malta and promoted as a tourist attraction. Do the authorities honestly think that by erecting one small shelter this will appease animal-caring tourists and locals?

Considering that we are in June and the weather has already heated up to cause extensive discomfort to these working horses, those responsible for getting anything done are no doubt sitting comfortably in their air- conditioned offices, calmly ignoring the suffering they are causing for these animals by not having erected all other shelters that had been publicly promised by Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino.
