The 11-year-old girl who suffered serious injuries after a pony bolted free from its sulky during horse races at Ħal Far is no longer in intensive care, police said.

While the girl’s condition has improved, a 50-year-old man who was injured in the same circumstances died.

The man, a father of five from Ħamrun, and the girl were buying food from a kiosk at 9.30pm on Friday when the pony galloped into the crowd and ran in their direction. The 32-year-old jockey and two other spectators were slightly injured.
