St Benedict College Boys Secondary School, Kirkop, joined in events held all over the world to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27 to commemorate the millions of people murdered during the Nazi Holocaust as well as more recent genocides in Rwanda and Darfur.

The school students put up an exhibition on past and current events, as well as suggestions as to what can be done to help prevent similar events happening again. Among the exhibits was a model of Auschwitz concentration camp where most of the innocent Jews died.

During the school assembly, the students spoke about the need for everyone to seek justice when faced with discrimination and to speak up for those who remain silent in order to preserve freedom and human dignity.
