A 34-year-old man was yesterday jailed for two years after he pleaded guilty to two thefts, one of them involving a hold-up.

Jon Formosa, who does not have a fixed address, admitted to having committed a hold-up on a shop in Cospicua, during which he was armed with a knife, held a woman against her will and stole up to €2,330 in cash.

Mr Formosa also admitted to being in possession of a knife without a licence, stealing several items from a car in Marsa, breaching the conditions of a previous release and relapsing.

He admitted the charges and was jailed by Magistrate Doreen Clarke for two years.

Inspectors Joseph Mercieca, Frank Sammut and Sarah Magri prosecuted.
