Ex-Bayern Munich coach and current Holland boss Louis van Gaal has said the German giants’ president Uli Hoeness was behind his sacking last year and insisted the pair can never work together again.

Van Gaal was dismissed as Bayern’s head coach in April 2011 after two years in charge with his side fourth in the Bundesliga.

The 61-year-old Dutchman clearly still harbours a grudge having been sacked by Bayern despite taking the club to the Champions League final and winning the German domestic league double in the 2009/10 season.

“The only person at the club who had always insisted on me leaving was Uli Hoeness. No one else. This is why it is not possible for us to work together again,” van Gaal told German magazine Sport Bild.

Van Gaal took over from Bert van Marwijk as Holland coach after the Dutch team finished June’s Euro 2012 without a point, but the former Ajax and Barcelona manager said he would not rule out working with Bayern again one day.

“At Ajax, Barcelona or Alkmaar, I have always returned to coach my former clubs again - just like now with the national team,” he said.

“Bayern are now the only ones left out, but I would find it nice to work there again.”

Van Gaal said Bayern are where they are now because of Hoeness’ work over the last 30 years having started as Munich’s general manager.

“It was not (Franz) Beckenbauer, (Paul) Breitner or someone else who has made the club so great. This was only the work of Uli Hoeness”, he said.
