The historic battery of Vendome in Marsaxlokk is in a pitiful state. It was built in the early 18th century to defend the inhabitants from Ottoman attacks from the sea.

It needs urgent restoration and, owing to its location, it would be appropriate to use it as a museum of fishing.

The situation of this historic site continues to deteriorate. There is a large amount of overgrowth on the walls and the debris left from the embellishment of the promenade has been dumped and abandoned against its walls.
