Hip-hop students from the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Dance won first place in the inaugural Malta Got Dance competition and attended an intensive course in funky jazz, street dance and hip-hop with international choreographer and dancer Selatin Kara as a result.

As first prize winners the group won a private course with Kara and they also get to perform their winning number at the Bay Music Awards 2011.

Kara has danced with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Usher, Ricky Martin, Lenny Kravitz, Carlos Santana and Shakira, among others.

The hip-hop students from the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Dance, who are trained by Sue Vassallo, also placed third in the Malta International Dance Festival with international judges from Italy, Holland, UK and Germany.

They are very active as guest dancers; recent performances include the Beer Fest 2011 with singer Raquela, Fashion Awards 2011, Bay Music Awards 2010 with Cruz and appearances with hop-hop stars Flo Rida and Ja Rule.

Students from the school will be appearing as pirates in Peter Pan in December.

The new term for hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, zumba, yoga, Spanish, ballroom and latin courses begins on September 26.
