Bradley Hindle Deguara started the season in excellent style this week when he reached the final of the warm-up Tasmania Open in Hobart, Australia.

Hindle Deguara, winner of two gold medals for Malta in the Liechtenstein GSSE, was in fine form as he breezed into the quarter-finals without conceding a set after comfortable victories over Australia’s Ben Marschall and Raphael Kandra, of Germany.

In the last eight, Hindle Deguara beat Anthony Graham, of England, 3-1, and in the last four he found little difficulty in overcoming Aqeel Rehman, of Austria, 3-0.

Hindle Deguara, however, met his Waterloo in the final as he was beaten in straight sets by Hong Kong’s Leo Au 3-0.

Despite the upset, Hindle Deguara was still satisfied with his performance.

“I am very happy with the result,” he told The Times.

“After Liechtenstein, I played in Kuwait before taking a short break ahead of the new season.

“I didn’t have high expectations for this tournament so to reach the final was a very good result.

“Preparations for the new season are going according to plan and my goal is to climb up the world rankings.”

Hindle Deguara will start the new season ranked no.84 in the PSA world list.
