Recently, we were assured that it is the official policy of Mepa for any new high building to have adequate open space around it.
This being the case, can anyone please explain the logic of the application for a six-storey high building plus a penthouse in Triq is-Simar at Xemxija? This will not only have no open space around it but will absorb the existing open space that the present block enjoys today, like all the other surrounding villas.
The application for a high building in such a small and narrow street has already been refused a few months ago and it is now up to the Mepa appeals board to decide whether to refuse it once more or to bulldozer over all logic in order to accommodate the speculator-developer to the detriment of the environment and the residents.
