Paola Hibs, the national women’s volleyball champions, have just organised an international tournament with the participation of two teams from Italy – Volley Godego (Bassano) and Team Volley (Catania).

The competition was mainly intended to foster new friendships and help the Paola girls garner more experience ahead of the new season.

A series of hard-fought games marked the tournament as Hibs showed their mettle and provided stiff resistance to the Italians.

In the end, Volley Godego won the tournament but all players involved enjoyed themselves and the coaches were pleased with the level of play and the opportunity to try out new tactics in the pre-season.

“This was an invaluable oppor-tunity for our team,” Paola Hibs Volley Club president Carmen Gauci said in a statement.

“We had the chance to test ourselves against foreign teams and strengthen collaboration with our guests.”
