The first President’s Cup charity match, sponsored by Cola Cola, saw Malta champions Hibernians enjoying an easy ride over their counterparts from the sister island – Xewkija Tigers – beating them 7-0, yesterday.

The match, under the control of referee Esther Azzopardi, was played at the Gozo Stadium and funds were collected in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

Joseph Mbong put Hibs ahead on five minutes and that early opener there was no story left as the Paolites went in for the break with a cushion lead following other strikes from Clayton Failla, Andre Agius and Jurgen Degabriele.

Degabriele made it 5-0 soon after the restart and Mbong finished with a hat-trick after beating the Tigers keeper on 71 and 89 minutes.
