Hibernians consolidated their position at the top of the FXDD Premier Division after winning two matches in a row while Balzan trounced Luqa 10-1 to stay in contention.

The Paolites started off with a 13-0 rout of Mosta in which captain Xavier Saliba scored four goals while David Bobokhidze claimed a hat-trick.

Melvin Borg and Levan Koba-idze scored a brace each with the other goals coming from Rui Miguel de Almeida and Cedric Sciberras.

Five days later, Hibs maintained their momentum to beat Żabbar 8-2. Bobokhidze added another three goals to his tally with Kobaidze and Daniel Brincat scoring twice each and De Almeida the other scorer for the winners.

Nikolay and Rosen Filipov were the scorers for Żabbar.

Luqa were no match for Balzan who cruised to their third win of the season.

A hat-trick by Emil Raducu, doubles from Jovica Milijic and Christian Wismayer and one goal each for Marc Areny Albert, Carlos Scicluna and Giancarlo Sammut completed Balzan’s success.

Keith Mifsud scored a stunner for Luqa who have yet to collect their first point this season.

Meanwhile, Luxol continued with their impressive showings after seeing off Vittoriosa Stars 11-1.

Paul Bugeja struck a hat-trick while Eslam Khalifa and Florin Anton scored two. William Barbosa, Tarek Ibrahim, Dean Gera and Liam Cachia completed the rout.

Qormi returned to winning ways after defeating Melita 7-3 as Pembroke temporarily shot into second place after beating San Ġwann 6-1.

This was the fourth win of the season for Pembroke who have played a game more than their opponents.

After two consecutive defeats, Żurrieq bagged their first three points of the season following a 6-3 win over Ħamrun Spartans.
