Birkirkara wing-back Edward Herrera was handed a two-match ban following his dis-missal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Qormi.

Herrera was shown a straight red card by referee Marco Borg for a rash tackle on Qormi midfielder Edison Bilbao Zarate.

The ban rules Herrera out of Birkirkara’s matches against Mosta and Balzan.

Eight other Premier League players were suspended for one match yesterday.

Birkirkara’s Gareth Sciberras, Balzan’s Bjorn Bondin, Floriana defender Kane Farrugia, Hibs forward Marcelo Dias, Joseph Chetcuti, the Qormi winger, and Rabat midfielder Heiner Backhaus have all been banned for four yellow cards.

Floriana midfielder Valdo Alhinho and Lyubomir Vitanov, of Ħamrun Spartans, have been sanctioned after both were sent off last weekend.
