A man accused of trafficking heroin last week asked a magistrate to appoint a court expert to examine the sachets in which the drugs were found, claiming they did not belong to him.

Although Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera told Mark-George Falzon, 35, from Ħamrun: “Seems like you don’t want to learn”, she acceded to his request and appointed a fingerprint expert to analyse the sachets.

Mr Falzon pleaded not guilty to trafficking and possessing heroin in amounts denoting it was not for his personal use and committing the crime within 100 metres of a school.

He was further charged with driving a car without a licence and insurance cover and with relapsing.

Mr Falzon did not request bail and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted.

Lawyer Henry Antoncich appeared for Mr Falzon as legal aid.
