The son of a woman who died in a car accident last year has filed a judicial protest against the Police Commissioner complaining that no action was ever taken against the driver, despite a magisterial inquiry declaring the motorist responsible for driving dangerously.

Emanuel Ellul said his 76-year-old mother, Vincenza, died in a road accident on February 8 last year in Żabbar Road, Paola but nothing has been done by the police about it. Both a magisterial inquiry and police investigation revealed that the driver involved in the accident was driving dangerously. Yet, so far no action had been taken, Mr Ellul said, adding he still did not know how his mother died in the accident.

The situation was prejudicial to the criminal case because the quality of the evidence of those involved would be at risk and also prejudicial to any civil court cases for damages he might institute, Mr Ellul said.

Lawyer Stefano Filletti signed the protest.
