I was very sorry to hear that the Malta Memorial District Nursing Association’s treasurer, Joyce Borg, had resigned after some 13 years in the post.
She had been elected to the then council in 1999 and elected treasurer almost immediately after. She served MMDNA loyally and well until her resignation late last year.
She was a most hard-working treasurer on the board of management during my chairmanship between 2005 and 2011 when we were in long negotiations with the Government for the signing of a new contract. She headed a number of difficult meetings before the new contract was eventually signed, I believe, early last year.
May I wish her a very happy and well deserved retirement.
