In the wake of the “fire risk” report regarding a recall of some Toyota vehicles relating to a potential malfunction of the window master switch, Michael Debono Limited wishes to establish the proper context of the situation.

In essence, Toyota USA lodged a report on the potential master switch malfunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Authority.

The latter categorises cases of melting or erosion, as could potentially occur in this case, together with other cases, under the general term of “fire risk”. This was picked up by the Japanese media accordingly.

Although Toyota Motor Corporation conducted approximately 200 tests with lubricants, it has not been able to generate fire hazard but only smoke and melting. In Europe, there has been no report of accidents or even of a fire case.

Meanwhile, Michael Debono Limited will be dedicating specific resources to handle the envisaged recall-related work as rapidly as possible, with minimal customer inconvenience.

Works will be carried out free of charge on all Toyota vehicles involved whether imported, new or used. Owners residing in Gozo will be serviced at the premises of the Toyota representative at Xewkija.
